The story of the Zenglen Band started way back in the year in 1980’s. It all started with three friends sharing the same passion in music. They were Gary Didier Perez, Jean Brutus Derissaint and Patrick Martineau. The three friends would gather in Bourdon to hear different kinds of music and play their guitar imitating the music they just heard, Haitian Music. Throughout the year 1986 up to the year 1987, those three friends continue their leisure activity every afternoon and rehearse and that very particular dat when empty bottles broke into pieces, they realized the name of their band. They came out with Zenglen which literally means broken pieces of empty bottles. The three friends started to put their interest in music into something professional and not just a mere leisure activity in 1989 when they signed for the FX Studio and started recording their first single titled Koule Tan. With the help of a journalist who named them as original and popular DJ who would call the as rhythm of the island, the Zenglen started to rise into stardom. Gerald’s family was the greatest influence in forming his music career because his family is composed of talented musicians. Gerald first started his musical career in Kalewes Band when he was just barely 19 years old and already acted as the leader of such band. Noldy’s love of music was influenced by the family who surrounds him when he was just a kid. Literally, he grew up with music because his father and uncle are both famous musicians. He learned to play bass guitar with his father’s urging at a very early age. He continued to pursue his interest in music when he received a scholarship from New York’s best Music School. Later, after finishing his University degree, he joined the band Carimi which later became the most popular Haitian Band specializing in Kompa Music of the new generation. Currently, Noldy is one of the hottest and sought after bass players in the Haitian Music Industry. He contributed greatly to the Carimi Band. Carimi: Mickael Guirands Mickael Guirands is the third member of the Carimi Band, the top Kompa Musician of the Haitian Music Industry. At a very early age, Mickael showed his interest in music. The young Mickael would love to entertain his family. He would love to sing a song for the members of his family. Even at a very young age, Mickael knew that he was destined for greatness in the music industry. So he started joining the choir in their hometown church and schools hoping to be discovered and given a chance to sing professionally, Haiti Music. Mickael was first introduced in Kompa music when he joined the Bigay Band. He was discovered by his co-member in Carimi, Carlo Vieux, when he was asked to sing as a background voice for the K-Dans but was later became a full pledged member because he proved to be more than a background singer. During his time with K-Dans, he won several awards but like his other co-band members, he temporarily stop his interest in music and went to the university to finish hid College Degree in Business. Right after he graduated, he happily continued his music destiny and became the lead singer of the Carimi Band which he and his other co-band members have founded. Michael Guirands is the MI in the CARIMI Band.

Carimi: Richard Cave Carimi, pronounced as carry me, is one of the most famous Haitian Bands of the New Generation which specialized in playing Kompa music. The members of the Carimi Band each contributed to the success of the Band including Richard Cave, one of the original members of the band who founded the Carimi. Richard showed interest in music when he was just at his tender age of thirteen and joined his first band K-Dans where he met his present Carimi band mate Carlo Vieux who was also formed part of the K-Dans group. At very early age, Richard showed excellence in music writing. In fact, he contributed greatly to the song of the K-Dans in composing lyrics using his talent in Ivory keys. But Richard’s rise to stardom was cut short when his father prohibited him to continue his interest in music and was later sent him to the University. But then again, Richard did not lose interest in music. After he earned his Degree in Finance he went back to music business.
